Yahoo Rich Ads in Search

Posted:

As announced in the Yahoo Search Marketing blog, Yahoo will be rolling out a new program that goes beyond simple text ads. “Rich Ads in Search” will allow advertisers to add videos, images, and custom search boxes to their advertisements, delivering a more effective sales experience.

Below is an example of a Pedigree ad that is using Rich Ads in Search.

According to the post, Rich Ads allow advertisers to:

- Post images and video, which can increase the branding impact of search advertising.

- Include boxes within the listing that lets users search for their desired product or a store location directly without additional navigation.

- Show their logo, which enhances user trust.

This program has been in development for some time now, as video ads have been tested within Yahoo as early as last March. Acceptance into Rich Ads is still by invitation-only, but this official announcement on the YSM blog hints that it should be available soon to the general public.

  1. I think this is a great idea. I do not use Yahoo except for a few groups I’m involved with, but I’m sure frequent users will be able to use this new enhancement to their advantage. I’m not too sure about the invite only part. I suppose they will have to play with that for a while to see how many takers they get. Thanks for the update and info.
