Search Share Down For Google, Up for Yahoo

Posted:

A recent press release was published by comScore, a leading Internet marketing research company, with a breakdown of the U.S. search market share among the major search engines.

This report focuses on the market share for January and compares it to the previous month, and indicates that Google has lost some market share while Yahoo has gained some. Microsoft and AOL have also seen an increase in the percentage of U.S. searches, while Ask loses ground along with Google.

Google Sites led the U.S. core search market in December with 63.0 percent of the searches conducted, followed by Yahoo! Sites (21.0 percent), Microsoft Sites (8.5 percent), AOL LLC (3.9 percent) and Ask Network (3.7 percent).

  1. Good for yahoo. This is a probably a good reaction when they lost their deal with Microsoft because of moonlighting.

For Google, that’s not really significant. Would the 3 hour (or less) glitch in their algorithm (where they labeled sites appearing on SERP’s as malicious or will harm your pc?) last January?

  2. Well Google still is the king of the search engines. I also do some review about search engine in my blog (www.webdiggers.blogspot.com) may I use this blog as reference and may I review this blog to my next post? Thank you very much for your answers.

    Best Regards

  3. Yahoo is going to be very interesting to watch this year….
