Google Ad Planner Beta Released
Posted: June 27th, 2008
Earlier this week, Google released the Beta version of Google Ad Planner. It seems to be an enhanced version of Google Trends’ new layer: Google Trends for Websites, which was announced just last week. This is backed by the Google Ad Planner Help Center, which mentions that the two are related but differ in end-users.
Google Trends for Websites is catered towards the general public (of webmasters anyway), while Ad Planner is catered towards advertisers and ad agencies. Google Ad Planner is, in short,
… a free media planning tool that can help you identify websites your audience is likely to visit so you can make better-informed advertising decisions.
This “media planning tool” is much more powerful than it may sound at first. Ad Planner differentiates between critical demographics and facilitates market segmentation. It includes estimates on gender, age, education level, and even household income. Also available are audience interests and the relevancy of particular websites to a target audience.

In addition, Ad Planner incorporates aggregate data from over a million data points to evaluate the number of unique visitors and pageviews from over forty countries. Furthermore, it guesses to the percentage of a country’s population that will be reached by a media plan.
There are probably still some kinks to straighten out as it was just released in beta, but to be considered into the beta program you should sign up here.
