FeedBurner Numbers Back to Normal

Posted:

A week ago, I began the process of moving my FeedBurner account to my Google account (had to be done by February or so), so I was unsure whether the (reported) drop in my RSS subscribers was due to this transition. Below is a screenshot of SEP’s latest feed stats for the past 30 days, as shown in the new FeedBurner stats dashboard.

Feed Stats Dashboard

You’ll notice that the number of subscribers fell from 61 to 43 on January 17th, and stayed in the low 40s until just yesterday, when it rose back to 57. Update: Number of subscribers at 62 today.

Drop Due to Transition?

Although the timing of the sudden drop may seem like it had to do with the transition, it turns out that FeedBurner was in fact having its own reporting issues with its subscriber count numbers. This has affected a large number of bloggers, as can be seen in this Google Groups thread.

This isn’t the first time that FeedBurner has had these problems (once in August 2008 and again last October).

  1. The drop passed me by. I just started so it would have big news if there was an increase. I’m glad it back up.

  2. My major blog dropped from 900 down to 300 subscribers, so I was glad when in the last 2-3 days the number has slowly came back to it’s normal level! Scared me for a bit :D

  3. Just learned about FeedBurner on a training call the other day. I haven’t used it or tried to install it yet. Would like to know more about the tracking tool.
